Budget: Slight Decrease in Mill; Money Left Over For Improvements

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The bottom line Garden City’s economy is doing well and numbers reflect it.  The city commission Tuesday dropped the proposed city mill levy from 37.6 to 36.7 or close to 167-thousand dollars less officials will collect from property owners next year.

City Manager Matt Allen believes the money will line up for the commission to possibly reinvest those funds.

The budget has funding for two more police officers and two additional firefighters.  The public can comment on the proposed budget in two weeks during the next city commission meeting.
