Bruce I. Trent died on July 16, 2018 at home with his family at his bedside, he was 88  years old.  He was born on September 15th, 1929 in Council Bluffs Iowa, the son of Harry H. Trent and Marjorie Irey Trent Senior.

Bruce graduated from Osborne High School in 1947 and Fort Hays State University in 1957.  He was a Korean War Veteran, serving with the US Army as a Sargent.  On July 15, 1961, Bruce Married Patricia Ann Gardner Schafer, in Garden City, Kansas.  She survives along with his son Jeff M. Trent (Topeka, KS) and Joan Booker and Husband, Dr Scott Booker of Garden City; five grandchildren:  Ashley Booker (Wichita, Kansas) and Christian Alexander  “Alex” Booker (Garden City), Zoe Trent, Tatum Trent and Saige Trent  ( of Topeka, KS).

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard D. Trent and one sister Patty Lou DeSimone.  Bruce belonged to the United Methodist Church, Osborne, Kansas.  Upon graduating college,  he went to work for the Internal Revenue Service, spending 32 years in Garden City, Kansas.  Bruce served on the Red Cross Board and was active in the American Legion for over  60 years, serving as Finance Officer for Harry H. Renick Post #9, District 8 Finance Officer and Department Committees for the American Legion.

Grave site services will begin on Friday, July 20th, 2018 at Valley View Cemetery at 10:30 A.M. in Garden City, KS.

The family will receive friends at Price and Sons Funeral Home of Garden City from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, July 19, 2018.

Price and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and memorials are suggested to St. Catherine Hospital Hospice in care of the funeral home.
