Broncbusters stay at No. 1

Garden City, KS-Garden City continued their reign on top of the NJCAA poll, coming in at No. 1 for the fourth consecutive week on Monday. 

Garden City dominated Iowa Central 35-0, holding the Tritons to just 61 total yards. 

“We just continue to work,” running back Taylor Thomas said. “It’s onto the next one. We still have to finish this thing.”

The Broncbusters received five of the nine, first-place votes with the other four going to No. 2 Arizona Western. The Matadors stayed put, despite their win over No. 6 Mesa. In fact, Garden City still holds a five-point lead over the second-ranked squad. 

Garden City hosts Fort Scott on Saturday. With a win, the Broncbusters will play in their first National Championship game in 16 years. 

East Mississippi, who narrowly escaped Mississippi Gulf Coast 27-24 on Saturday, is ranked third, followed by Northwest Mississippi and Trinity Valley. 

Coffeyville dropped seven spots to 16 after getting blown out by Highland. The Scotties jumped five slots to No. 14.
