Broncbusters ranked No. 10 in preseason polls

Garden City, KS-Garden City is ranked 10th in the NJCAA preseason poll released on Wednesday. It’s the second straight year that the Broncbusters made an appearance in the preseason top 10.

“We always stay the same: play note for note and line for line,” Garden City Coach Jeff Sims said. “We will see where we are when the first game rolls around. That’s all we are concerned about.”

After winning four out of their final five games in 2017, the Broncbusters finished No. 13 in the country. They began last year ranked third.

“We are getting better every day,” Sims said. “But we are not there yet. We have a lot of work to do.”

This is the 15th time in the last 21 years that Garden City has been ranked in the preseason and second time under Sims. They’ve been in 21 out of the last 25 polls.

Defending national champion East Mississippi is No. 1 followed by Iowa Western, Arizona Western, Snow and Independence. Butler is ranked 13th and Hutchinson is receiving votes.

Garden City opens the regular season Saturday, Sept. 1 at home vs. Dodge City.
