For the second day in a row, the GCCC Broncbusters blew out an overmatched opponent, dismantling KSU-Salina 118-44 on the second day of the Trojan Classic in Colby. The Busters controlled the tempo early, building a 33-13 lead 14 minutes into the first half and then they really got hot. Garden City outscored KSU-Salina 23-4 over the final six minutes to take a 56-17 lead into the locker room.

Jabar Ray led the way with 21 points, hitting 6 of 9 from beyond the arc, followed by Brandon Jones with 18. James McNeal may have the best overall game, scoring 16 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, dishing 4 assists, adding 2 steals and turning it over just once. Jamar Gilbert had 6 assists for the Busters who had 23 as a team. Garden City also controlled the boards, 61-26, including 15 offensive rebounds. The Broncbusters shot 54% from the field, 50% from 3-point range and 64% from the charity stripe, 18 out of 28. They did commit 18 turnovers, but 12 came in the first half.

For Coach Brady Trenkle, the biggest benefit of the two blowout wins might have been the opportunity to play everybody quite a few minutes to get real game experience and take a step toward molding a group of transfers and freshman into a team.

The Broncbusters will be back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Seward County Classic, facing Sunrise Christian Academy and Peterson Air Force Base.
