Broncbuster Baseball Team Starting to Heat Up

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)  After sweeping Cloud County on the road over the weekend, the Broncbuster baseball team (19-16) used a seven run second inning to beat Clarendon College 11-3 yesterday at Williams Stadium.  On March 19th GCCC lost at Clarendon 11-10 after allowing two runs on five consecutive walks in the ninth inning.

Clarendon (11-14) grabbed the early lead with a three run top of the second on Lucas Wearden’s RBI single to left and a two run double from ninth batter Pablo Puerta.  Garden City after being retired in order during the top of the 1st scored seven in the second off Bulldog starter Brandon Turner and never looked back.  Cale Dineen’s RBI single tied it at 3-3.  Tyler Tucker then added a two run double and Kaleb Zimmer a RBI triple. The Broncbuster relievers picked up starter Dalton Shalberg.  After Shalberg allowed three runs over three innings, the six pitchers from GCCC’s bullpen gave up only a double and two singles.

Garden City is tied for fourth with Dodge City in the Jayhawk West at 11-0.  This weekend second place Butler comes into town for a pair of doubleheaders.  The Taco Bell dugout show begins at 2:45pm Saturday on westernkansasnews.com.  The first pitch is at 3pm.  Sunday’s doubleheader begins at 1pm.
