Boy from Mexico dies in Haskell County accident
A 13-year old boy from Chihuaha, Mexico died Tuesday night in a single-vehicle accident north of Sublette.
According to the Kansas highway patrol report, a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by 49-year old Luis Rene Guitierrez-Loera from Chihuaha, Mexico was northbound on US Highway 83 about 10 miles north Sublette around 10:15 pm, when he went to pass another vechicle, lost control and entered a side skid and tripped due to inclement weather, rolled an unknown number of times, coming to rest in the east ditch facing west.
Guitierrez-Loera and passenger 17-year old Allen-Alexander Guitierrez-Portillo were taken to Satanta District Hospital for their injuries. The second passenger, Cristian Rene Guitierrez-Portillo was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City were he was pronounced dead.
None of the people were wearing seatbelts.
