Betty Locy
Betty Locy, 82, died May 15, 2016 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on July 31, 1933 in Dodge City, the daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Gertrude Olive (Wagonseller) Barrett.
Betty was a lifetime resident of Dodge City, attending Dodge City elementary schools and Ford High School. On August 6, 1950, she married John P. Locy in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2002. Betty worked at various places in Dodge City including Dodge City Public Library, USD 443, and First Christian Church daycare. She enjoyed camping with her family and following her grandchildren’s activities. Betty was always willing to help other who were in need.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City and very active with various groups in the church.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Valerie Barber of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Chris Smith and husband Dean of Sublette; one brother, Harlan Barrett of Flower Mound, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband John, Betty is preceded in death by her parents, a son, John G. Locy, and a daughter, Cynthia Hoer.
Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church in Dodge City on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Richard Crockett presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Friends may sign the book at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The casket will remained closed.
