Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It’s hard to believe that after tonight’s game, the regular season will be a third over. For Scott City, it also means that half of their home schedule will be completed. The Beavers will play host to the Goodland Cowboys in a 7 pm kickoff at Darner Field in Scott City in a game that looks to be a mismatch on paper.

Goodland enters Scott City with a 1-1 record, following their 51-6 loss to the Holcomb Longhorns last Friday at Cowboy stadium in the return of Longhorn coach Kent Teeter and quarterback Trey Teeter. Kent was Goodland’s head coach for six seasons, and Trey was the Cowboy signal caller for his freshman and sophomore season. The Cowboys turned the ball over five times, all through the air, as the Longhorns led 22-0 after the first quarter and 44-6 at the break. Goodland is on their third head coach in as many seasons, as Jeff Savage takes over the program after a three-year stint at Canton-Galva. They will start only three seniors, and start five sophomores on their squad.

Scott City looks to improve on their 2-0 record. The Beavers took care of Colby 35-6 last Friday night at Darner Field to get their 25th GWAC win in 26 games. In last weeks game, Scott City jumped out to a 14-0 lead and 35-0 by the break en route to their 12th straight win over the Eagles. The Beaver defense was dominant, forcing four turnovers in the win, including a pick-six by Drake McRae in the first quarter, and allowed under 100 yards of offense in the game. Bo Hess threw for two touchdowns and ran for one more to help the Scott City attack against the Eagles. The Beavers committed four second half turnovers in their win.

Scott City leads the all time series 33-11, and has won 11 in a row over Goodland since 2006.
