Entering Thursday’s matchup, Scott City had never defeated Hugoton three times in a season, and the Lady Eagles haven’t lost three straight games this season. The Lady Beavers would start out in the first 8:29 of the game on a 16-1 run, as they never trailed all night. They would use a 12-2 run to lead 28-6 early in the third quarter, and built their lead to 32-8 with 5:17 remaining in the third frame. A run of 17-1 by Hugoton (7-12, 3-8) over an eight-minute stretch would pull them to within 33-25 with 6:10 left. However, the Lady Beavers would settle down and score the next five points of the game to go up 13 with 4:51 remaining. Scott City would never see their lead shrink under 10 points, and held on for the 49-38 win.

It’s the first time the Lady Beavers have won five straight against Hugoton, as they have won two straight in Hugoton for the first time since 2018-19.
