BAA Board of Directors Meeting

Garden City, KS-The Broncbuster Athletic Association elected new officials during their Board of Directors meeting Monday evening inside the Hall of Fame Room.

Longtime board member and local farmer Doyle McGraw, was chosen as President, local real-estate agent Maxine Atkins was appointed Vice President, and architect Manuel Ortiz was elected secretary and treasurer.

“We welcome Doyle, Maxine and Manuel to their leadership roles within the Broncbuster Athletic Association,” Director of Athletics and Chief Executive Officer of the association Greg McVey said.  “They are well-respected members of the Garden City Community, and bring a true passion for Buster athletics. I look forward to working alongside each of them as we move forward into the future.”

McGraw, who’s been on the board for five years, and before that, played at Garden City and then in the National Football League with the Oakland Raiders and the Washington Redskins, is excited to be a part of an organization that is student centered.

“It’s all about the students,” McGraw said. “It’s students first.”

Atkinson has been selling real estate in Garden City for more than four decades and has served on the board for nearly seven years.

“I’m proud to support Garden City Community College,” she said.

Ortiz graduated from Garden City Community College and is now the project manager for The Architect in Garden City.

“As former students ourselves, we know what it means to have support and friendships,” Ortiz said. “For me, it’s making sure we support our students and help to build those friendships with the community and students in the best ways possible.”

The Broncbuster Athletic Association has been serving student-athletes for more than 30 years and provides opportunities through scholarships.
