Auto Theft Arrest – GCPD Media Release
Garden City Police Department
On January 21, 2021, Officers of the Garden City Police Department were dispatched to the area of 300 N 4th Street for an auto theft that had just occurred. The reporting party, and owner of the vehicle, told officers his truck had just been taken without permission and was last seen traveling south from his residence.
Witnesses said a male got inside the vehicle and left the area. Officers quickly responded to the area and were able to locate the truck. Officers initiated a traffic stop. The driver continued driving, failing to yield to the officer’s emergency lights and sirens, stopping once to allow a woman to get out of the truck before coming to a complete stop in the area of 200 N 4th Street and Chestnut Avenue. The driver of the truck was identified as Cristino Abel Garcia (35), 306 N 4th Street, Garden City, KS, and was taken into custody without incident.
The woman was located hiding in a nearby backyard and was identified as Marisa Garcia (28), 306 N 4th Street, Garden City, KS. Marisa Garcia was taken into custody without incident for an outstanding warrant and possession of methamphetamine.
An affidavit was filed on Cristino Garcia requesting charges of Theft, Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer, and Flee and Elude. An affidavit was also filed on Marisa Garcia requesting charges of possession of methamphetamine. Both cases were forwarded to the Finney County Attorney’s Office for further review.
