Wichita, KS-Garden City High School sophomore Sion Audrain is just a year removed from becoming one of the youngest players to win the City Championship. His performance on Monday, definitely trumped that.

Audrain shot a 2-under par; then beat out Thomas Luger from Shawnee Mission East in a playoff to capture the 6A individual state championship at Auburn Hills Golf Course.

“It’s a great way to end the season,” Audrain said. “We shot really well as a team.”

On the playoff hole, Audrain just missed out on a birdie, eventually parring the hole while Luger missed a five-foot put for par, giving the sophomore the crown.

Taylor Larsen shot a 75, Logan Durst a 78 and Tyler Morren 80.

As a team, Garden City placed fourth behind champion Blue Valley North, Shawnee Mission East and Olathe East. Dodge City was 11th while Luke Gleason was 31st with a 79.
