Audrain wins 108th Kansas Amateur

Mayetta, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Sion Audrain made a furious rally Sunday at the 108th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship to become the second youngest to ever win the event at Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, KS.  Audrain, a KU golf commit and senior to be at Garden City High School, rallied from three down with five holes remaining to come back to defeat Wichita State golfer  Zac Owens by a 1-up margin in the 36-hole final match.

In Saturday’s afternoon semifinal action, Audrain defeated KU’s Andy Spencer by a 3&1 margin.  Zac Owens, a 19-year redshirt freshman at Wichita State, bested Park University golfer Evan Shartzer by a 2&1 margin.  In the Saturday’s quarterfinal match, Audrain defeated Emporia’s Colton Massey 4&2.
