Manhattan, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It wasn’t their best effort, nor was it their best game played through the first three games, but the Kansas State Wildcats were able to pull away in the second half against the upset-minded North Texas Mean Green in a 35-21 win. After North Texas scored first with four minutes remaining to make it 7-0 Mean Green. That lead was gone 13 seconds later, thanks to a 96-yard kickoff return by Tyler Lockett. It was tied at seven after the first quarter, and K-State made it 14-7 with 2:24 remaining before halftime on the first of two touchdown connections from Colin Klein to Tremaine Thompson. North Texas made it 14-13 in the third quarter on their opening drive, but missed the extra point. Kansas State would put the game away with 21 points in a matter of about 12 minutes in the third and fourth quarters. Klein finished 15-of-20 for 230 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. He also had 85 yards on 11 carries and a score. The Wildcats are 3-0 and will be at Oklahoma Saturday night at 6:30 to begin Big 12 play.
