Aubrey A. Parks

Aubrey A. Parks, 76 died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. He was born February 16, 1940 in Montezuma, Kansas the son of Aubrey L. & Charlotte G. (Huffman) Parks.
As a young child, Aubrey moved with his family to Garden City where he attended Garden City schools. He worked for 26 years as a heavy equipment operator for Smith Sand. He then worked for the next 22 years with traffic control for Finney County public works where he retired in 2005. He enjoyed drawing, hunting, shooting, carpentry, fishing, remote control airplanes, and visiting with people. Aubrey was a member of Bible Christian Church in Garden City and the N.R.A.
On September 10, 1956, he married Marilyn K. Smith in Syracuse, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include three children Marsha & husband Patrick Carr of Garden City, Chrystal & husband Ramon Bazan of Garden City, and Justin & wife Whey-Leah Parks of Garden City; a brother Donovan Parks of Portland, Or.; 9 grandchildren Stacy Rose, Stana Rose, Sundance Hoyt, Russell Wasinger, Marcus Bazan, Dylan Parks, Austin Parks, Lane Miller, and Miranda Miller; and 5 great grandchildren Zoe Rose, Yendry Rose-Martinez, Autumn Rose-Lesdesma, Aubrey K. Rose-Ledesma, and Kaesyn Parks. Aubrey is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Garden City with Rev. Scott Schurle officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family request memorials given to the Kearny County Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
