Attorney For Banda: Client Will Turn Herself In, Answer to Charges

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The attorney representing medical marijuana advocate Shona Banda says her client will turn herself into authorities on Monday afternoon at the Finney County Law Enforcement Center to face charges for intent to distribute, manufacturing of a controlled substance and child endangerment. If convicted on all charges, Banda could potential receive a sentence of 11 to 17 years in prison.

Garden City Police officers say they found 1 1/4 pounds of marijuana and a lab for manufacturing cannabis oil while searching her home March 24th. The investigation began after Banda’s 11 year old son made comments during an in school program about the medical benefits of cannabis. Bond has been set at 50-thousand dollars and it is likely that Banda will make her initial appearance in court as early as Tuesday.
