A’s rally to top Hays

Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City A’s picked up a huge 5-3 win over the first-place Hays Larks Wednesday night.

The game stayed scoreless until the fourth inning when the Larks took a 1-0 lead on a Cole Solomon double. The A’s would respond in the fifth when Kyle Cullen hit a grounder to the short to drive in a run, Cullen then reached first on a throwing error that brought in Sean Noel to take a 2-1 lead.

Dodge City continued their sixth inning woes when Easton Kirk and Cole Solomon of Hays(6-3) both delivered RBI doubles to take a 3-2 lead.

The A’s(5-5) would respond in the seventh inning Jordan Vujovich scored Blake Shinkle on an RBI sac-fly to tie the game at 3. With two outs Isaiah Haddad and Cullen both hit singles putting runners on first and second, Adam Hollar then drilled a two-run triple down the right field line to take a 5-3 lead.

Nic Wilson came in and shutdown Hays in the final two innings, retiring all six batters. Nico Mayoral(1-0) got the win pitching 1.2 innings and just allowing a walk. Conner Van Cleave got the start pitching five plus innings allowing two runs on four hits.

Hollar led the A’s at the plate going 3-4 with a triple, two singles and two RBI. Vujovich went 2-3 with two singles and an RBI.

The A’s are back in action at Hays Thursday night at 7 p.m. pregame will begin at 6:45 on 95.5 Super Hits and swksradio.com
