A’s pounded at Hays

Hays, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Hays Larks jumped on the Dodge City A’s early Wednesday night and never looked back winning 17-2.

The Larks jumped out to 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first off of an RBI double by Jacob Boston, an RBI single by John Rensel an RBI single Matt Munoz and a two-run single by Cole Solomon. The A’s only offense of the night came in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Adam Hollar and an RBI fielders choice by Dylan Johnson to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Hays responded in the bottom half of the inning when Cole Solomon scored on a balk by Brett Johnson and an RBI sac-fly from Boston, stretching lead to 7-2.  The Larks then added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI single from Ryne Randle and an RBI fielders choice by RJ Williams.

Hays exploded for six more runs in the sixth, including a two RBI single by Wyatt Divis and a three-run homer by Munoz stretching the lead to 15-2. The Larks added two more runs in the eighth on an RBI double from Williams and an RBI single from Scott Wolveton.

Brady Rodriguez(4-1) took the loss for the A’s allowing unearned runs on four hits in two innings. Fabian Muniz(5-0) got the win for Hays allowing just two runs on six hits in six innings. Matt Munoz led the Larks at the plat going 3-5 with two singles, a homerun and four RBI.

The A’s(13-11) are now in fourth place in the Jayhawk league are a game back of Derby for third and two games back of Liberal for second place. Dodge City will play a non-league game Thursday night at home against the Ft. Collins Foxes at 7:30 p.m. They’ll host the Haysville Aviators this weekend for a three game series starting Friday night.
