A’s keep win streak going at Great Bend
Great Bend, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City A’s survived a late rally from the Great Bend Bat Cats Tuesday night for a 7-6 win.
The A’s jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third on an RBI single by Jordan Vujovich and a two-run double from Owen Jansen. Dodge City then extended the lead in the fourth on RBI singles by Dayton Cook and Adam Hollar making it 5-0. The Bat Cats got two runs back in the bottom half on an error by shortstop Carlos Arrellano and an RBI groundout by Andrew Schatz. Great Bend then scored another run in the fifth on an RBI sac-fly by Reese Johnson to cut the deficit to 5-3.
The A’s extended the lead again in the sixth with an RBI single by Owen Jansen and an RBI single from Kyle Cullen in the seventh to make it 7-3. The Bat Cats cut back into the lead in the eighth on back-to-back RBI singles from Austin McNicholas and Gavin Johnson cutting the score to 7-5. McKay Banks scored on a passed ball in the ninth to make it 7-6.
In his final appearance for Dodge City Nico Mayoral(4-0) pitched a complete game allowing just one earned run on 11 hits and striking out nine. Jansen led the A’s at the plate going 2-4 with a double, single and three RBI. Jordan Vujovich was 3-5 with three singles an RBI and three runs scored.
The A’s(17-11) have now won five in a row and eight of their last ten. They are currently tied for second with the Liberal Bee Jays. Dodge City will play at Liberal Wednesday night, pregame at 6:45 p.m. on 95.5 FM and swksradio.com.
