A’s blasted at El Dorado

El Dorado, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City A’s lost El Dorado Tuesday night 21-11. The Broncos scored 18 runs in the sixth inning to rally from an 8-3 deficit.

The A’s got off to a hot start when Jake Cruce delivered a two-run homer in the top of the first, but El Dorado responded with a Tanner Scheutz two-run home run to tie the game.

In the third Dodge City scored four runs including a two-run single by Dante Faichio, making it 6-2. The A’s stretched the lead to 8-3 in the top of the sixth including an RBI groundout by David Gonzalez.

The Broncos exploded in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring 18 runs, 22 batter came to the plate. Leading the onslaught was John Sorensen with a grand-slam and two-run double. Conner Allen had a three-run homer and RBI single. The A’s scored three runs in the ninth including a two run homer by Owen Jansen.

Conner Van Cleave got the start pitching 4.1 innings allowing three runs on four hits and six strikeouts. Brett Johnson got the loss pitching two-thirds of an inning allowing two earned runs and seven runs.
