Arlene Brown
Arlene Brown, 89, died July 21, 2015 at the Minneola District Hospital. She was born on March 10, 1926 in Utica, the daughter of Harry L. and Irene M. (Roeske) Babcock.
Arlene was raised in Utica, graduating from Utica High School in 1944. She then moved to Dodge City where she attended nurses training at St. Anthony’s Hospital. In 1946, Arlene married H.H. Brown. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2010. Arlene worked as a nurse in the Bucklin Hospital and for Dr. Randle in the clinic in Bucklin. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Ford Congregational Church.
Arlene is survived by three sons; Bill Brown and wife Marilyn of Wamego, Wes Brown and wife Debbie of Ford, and Mark Brown of Bucklin; two daughters, Sheila Brown of Meade and Judith Brown of Ford; ten grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, H.H., Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter-in-law, Donna; two brothers, Kenneth and Delbert Babcock; and two great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of Swaim Funeral Home-1901 Sixth Ave-Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
