Area track teams see regional meet starts adjusted

Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–With the possibility of severe weather impacting western Kansas on Friday, several regional track meets in western Kansas have adjusted their regional meet schedule.

The Class 3A regional in Scott City has been moved from Friday to Thursday, with the schedule remaining the same. The boys pole vault and girls javelin will begin at 2 pm, followed by the other field events at 3 pm. Running prelims begin at 4:30 and the finals will be at 6.

In the Class 2A regional at Sublette, times have been moved up on Friday. The field events will begin at 11 am, with the prelims at 1 pm and the finals on the track at 2 pm.

For the Class 1A regionals in Hill City and Kiowa County, they both have been moved up a day to Thursday. At the Hill City regional, field events will begin at 3 pm, followed by the track prelims at 4:30, and the finals to begin 30 minutes after the prelims are concluded. The Kiowa County regional begins at 3 pm with the field events, track prelims at 5 and the finals at 6:30.

The Class 6A regional for Dodge City & Garden City at Wichita Northwest, hosted by Wichita Southeast, will go on as scheduled on Friday and the Class 4A regional for Ulysses at Circle will still be on Thursday as scheduled.
