Area 8-Man II All-Stars score in West’s loss to the East
Beloit (westernkansasnews.com)–It didn’t take long to show the state how the Moscow Wildcats were able to put up points rapidly on the scoreboard during the regular season. The leader of that pack, Osvaldo Granillo, took the opening kickoff 73 yards for a touchdown to give the West team the early lead, but a 46-point rally by the East team en route to a 52-24 final. All of the points by the West squad were put up by southwest Kansas area athletes. Dighton’s Guy Fuller converted on the two-point conversion after the Granillo kick return to give the West an 8-0 lead after the first quarter. Fullmer would find paydirt early in the second quarter on a three-yard run, and Ashland’s Austin Stebens would connect with Cole Christiansen from Golden Plains to take a 16-0 lead. The East would score 20 points before recess and take a 20-16 lead into halftime.
In the fourth quarter, Fullmer found the end zone for a second time on a 24-yard scamper. After the two-point conversion, the West trailed 46-24, and the East team tacked on one late score to give themselves the 28-point victory.
Stebens would finish with 69 yards passing, while Fullmer gained 66 rushing yards to lead the West.
The East now holds an 8-4 series lead over the West.
