Another Phone Scam Looks to Take Your Money
Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Ford County Sheriff Bill Carr is warning residents about a phone scam that could put your finances at risk. A person will falsely say they are with the sheriff’s office and there’s a warrant out for your arrest for failing to appear in court or contempt of court. They will then ask for credit card information to pay a fine, so all charges can be dropped.
Sheriff Carr adds most of these scams orginiated from overseas. If you receive one of these calls, hang up and call local law enforcement. Some of these scams are also being done through the mail.
