Sierra Club Sues KDHE Over Permit For Holcomb Power Plant
Holcomb, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Just weeks after Sunflower Electric received a new air control permit for its coal fired power plant in Holcomb, the construction of the new 2.8 billion dollar facility is on hold again. The Sierra Club has filed an appeal with the Kansas appellate court challenging the legality of the revised permit just issued with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The appeal contends that the new permit doesn’t follow regulations laid down under the Clean Air Act of 1970.
