Andres Ramirez, age 49, of Mercedes, Texas, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas.  He was born May 5, 1970, in Doctor Arroyo, NL Mexico, the son of Santos and Teresa Ramirez.

Andres moved to the United States at the age of eight. He attended school in Ulysses. Andres worked in construction for W.T. Contractors and lived in Ulysses until moving to Texas 10 years ago. He enjoyed fishing and dancing, and was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Andres married Josefina Moreno in Mexico.

He is survived by his wife, Josefina of Weslaco, Texas; sons, Erwin Ramirez and Andres Ramirez both of Weslaco; daughters, Judith Ramirez and Joani Ramirez both of Mexico; brothers, Jose Angel Ramirez, Seferino Ramirez both of Ulysses, Jaime Ramirez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Juan Ramirez and Ray Ramirez both of Ulysses; and sisters, Consolacion Garcia and Ermila Sanchez both of Ulysses, Virginia Garcia of Oxnard, California, and Hortencia Ramirez of Ulysses.

Andres is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Venancio.

Vigil and rosary service will be Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 7:00 PM and funeral mass will be Thursday, May 30, 2019, at 10:00 AM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend James E. Dieker officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, May 29, 2019, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
