Amparo Herrera, 90, died April 15, 2015 at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City. She was born on February 16, 1925 in Dodge City, the daughter of Lucas and Paula (Amaro) Herrera. 

Amparo was born and raised in Dodge City and attended elementary school in there. She worked as a housekeeper at St. Andrew’s Hospital and then for Trinity Retirement Center for 12 years before retiring in 1989. Later she went to work at Walmart and volunteered at Good Samaritan Center. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed time with her siblings and nieces and nephews. 

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City. 

Amparo is survived by two sisters, Jane Perales and Nellie Herrera both of Dodge City; one brother, George Herrera of Juarez, Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Anita Lopez and Charlotte Esquibel, and four brothers, Casanio, Albert, Gabriel, and Johnny Herrera. 

Services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at a later time. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Good Samaritan Activity Fund in care of Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
