All-WAC Selections
The 2016 All-WAC selections came out this week, with several Garden City and Dodge City players making the first team in both volleyball and soccer.
Volleyball
Garden City’s Abby Piha was named coach of the year after leading the Buffaloes to a second straight state tournament appearance. Senior Kyra Bellows was selected to the first team, while Lexi Hogan, Reagan Karlin, Taylor Savolt and Jade Garcia made the second team.
Great Bend’s Kate Warren was named the player of the year.
Soccer
Coming off their first state championship in school history, Dodge City took home plenty of postseason hardware.
Joshua Don Juan was named the conference player of the year while Miguel Baca, Francisco Cayetano and Mario Martinez were picked to the first team. Eddie Del Toro and Cesar Alvarez made the second team.
For Garden City, Josh Herrera was the lone Buffalo that made the first team. Salvador Bustos, Jesus Macias and Kender Acevedo were picked to the second team.
Dodge City Coach Saul Hernandez was named coach of the year.
