Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Eight weeks or 56 days. That’s how many days until the season opener for Scott City’s volleyball team.

While it has been a flurry in the month of June, the Lady Beavers have been in the gym and in the weight room consistenly, in preparations for the 2017 season. Only two players are returning from a team that was a match away from the state tournament. Coach Shelby Kite has been pleased with the progress her team has made this summer, and has moved some of her players around.

Scott City’s summer schedule has seen them compete well in the Hays summer league program, which has continued with their team camp over this past week. Fort Hays State conducted the camp on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the SCHS coaching staff the last two days. The Lady Beavers will continue with summer league and open gym over the next couple weeks, with captain’s practice beginning in August.

There will be two new coaches to the staff this year. SCHS alum Audrey Baker will be the junior varsity coach, while Ellyn Boots will be the c-team coach.
