Meade Pulls Away From Moundridge, Ness City Falls to Third Place Game
Manhattan, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Meade was able to advance to their second straight Class 2A state championship game by pulling away from Moundridge in a 74-54 win Friday afternoon at Bramlage Coliseum. Things weren’t so fortunate for Ness City, as they were bounced to the third place game with a 51-37 setback to the Republic County Buffaloes.
Meade were able to outcsore the Wildcats in three of the four quarters. It was 22-13 Buffaloes after one and 30-21 at the break. The second half saw it separation, as the Buffaloes converted 20-0f-23 foul shots, and hit eight three’s in the game. Meade (24-0) was led by Morgan Davis with 25 points, while Jett Little finished with 21. Moundridge (19-6) had Daniel Ratzlaff lead the way with 26 points.
Ness City saw the Republic County Buffaloes pull away after each quarter. The Eagles trailed 32-19 at the break. Republic County shot 66% from the field, as well as 75 % from the foul line. Ness City tried to rally with three point shots, but hit 3-of-23. Leading the way for Republic County (22-3) were Trenton Kuhlman and Trevor Allen with 17 points apiece. Colin Foos led the Eagles (17-8) with 17 points.
Meade will take on Republic County in the Battle of the Buffs at 6:15 pm Saturday for the state championship, while Ness City faces Moundridge at 2 pm in the third place game.
