Structure fire deemed to be accidental

Garden City, Kan.–Just before 8:45 a.m. Thursday morning, the Garden City Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 4552 E. Highway 50 in Garden City.

Upon arrival, Command found heavy smoke and fire coming from a single story structure. Personnel established a water supply and completed initial knockdown of the fire. Engine 2 personnel completed primary and secondary searches of the structure and successfully removed one dog to safety.

The fire was called under control before 12:30 p.m.

Fire Investigator Andy Crittenden responded to the scene for fire investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. No damage estimates are available at this time.
