Train strikes pedestrian pushing wheel chair across track in Liberal
Liberal, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatality accident involving a train and pedestrians in Liberal.
According to the KHP report, the accident occurred just after 8 p.m. Sunday night, when a train struck a pedestrian pushing someone in a wheelchair at Western Avenue near U.S. Highway 54 and Seward County Road 3. The pedestrians attempted to cross the railroad crossing while the crossing arms were down and the warning signals were active.
The names of the victims have not been released.
