Scam claiming unpaid tolls circulating

Garden City, Kan.–The Garden City Police Department is warning motorists about a smishing campaign claiming you have unpaid tolls is making the rounds.

Scammers are using several fake websites that mimic DriveKS to trick you into thinking you owe money. If you get a text message with this image, don’t click the link – IT IS A SCAM!

The Kansas Turnpike Authority doesn’t send unsolicited texts nor requests toll payment via text. Share this message with friends and family so others don’t fall victim.

The GCPD reminds people that since the texts go to anyone with a cell phone number, it could happen to anyone even if you never use the Turnpike.
