Scott City returns home to face Hoisington

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Two teams coming off tough losses will meet up at Darner Field, as Hoisington visits Scott City to face the Beavers in a 7 pm kickoff.

Hoisington is 0-2 on the year following a 28-24 loss against Hesston last Friday night at home. The Swathers scored in the final seconds to pick up the win. This year the Cardinals are averaging 230 yards of offense, led by senior fullback Teron Kraft, who has rushed for 164 yards and a touchdwon. Hoisington is plus-four in the turnover margin through the first two games, as they have allowed 338 yards per game and 26 points per contest. They are led defensively by Kraft, who has 16 tackles on the season.

Scott City is looking to bounce back, after a 42-14 loss at Wray last Friday night. The Eagles torched the Beavers with 21 first quarter points and never looked back, taking a 35-7 halftime lead. In the loss, Scott City did put up 350 yards of offense, with 205 coming through the air. Camden Vulgamore has thrown for just under 300 yards and has rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown this year, while Jackson Rumford has nine receptions for under 150 yards on the season. Offensively, Scott City is averaging 25 points and 327 yards of offense, while giving up 259 yards and 21 points per contest.

This is the first meeting between the schools since 2013, and the first in Scott City since 2012. The Beavers lead the all-time series 11-4, and have won thet last three meetings.
