Scott City volleyball 7th at Hays

Hays, Kan. (westernkasnasnews.com)–The Scott City volleyball team faced a tough lineup of opponents on Saturday at the annual Maroon & Gold Invitational at Hays High School.

Scott City went 2-3 on the day, and would finish seventh overall in the tournament.

In pool play, the Lady Beavers fell to Hays High 25-20, 25-13, lost to TMP Marian 25-18, 25-17 and defeated Wichita Southeast 25-21, 22-25, 25-21.

They would face Colby in the consolation semi-finals, and fell to the Lady Eagles 25-20, 25-10, but bounced back to win their final match of the day, defeating Wichita Southeast for a second time 25-23, 28-26.

Olathe West was the tournament winner, defeating Beloit in the championship match. TMP Marian outlasted Hays High in the third place match, and Colby knocked off Salina South in the fifth place match.

At 3-4 on the year, Scott City will head to Hoisington on Tuesday for a triangular with Hoisington and Southeast of Saline.
