Hit-and-run accident leads to DUI arrest

Garden City, Kan.–A Garden City man was arrested for driving under the influence following a hit-and-run accident early Sunday. According to a release from the Garden City Police Department, 23-year-old Joseph Serrano-Torres faces charges from the incident.

Just before 2 a.m Sunday morning, Officers of the Garden City Police Department were dispatched to the area of Main and Fulton Streets for a reported hit-and-run accident. Before they arrived, Officers located the involved vehicle near the intersection of Main and Kansas Streets with significant damage and Serrano-Torres identified as the driver.
 
The investigation revealed that Serrano-Torres was driving westbound on E. Fulton Street when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole, an unoccupied vehicle, and a light pole. Serrano-Torres left the crash scene and continued traveling westbound before being stopped by Officers. Through further investigation, it was determined Serrano-Torres was driving under the influence and was taken into custody. The total estimated property damage is over $5,000.00.
 
Serrano-Torres was lodged in the Finney County Jail for DUI, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License, and Duty of Driver Upon Striking Unattended Vehicle or Property.
