Several high temperature records tied or broken Sunday
Dodge City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The US National Weather Service in Dodge City said that Sunday saw several record high temperatures tied or broken across Southwest Kansas.
Ashland recorded the highest temperature in the area, as they hit 111 degrees, breaking the record of 107 set in 2011. Lakin broke a 22-year old record of 107 with a high of 109. Greensburg set a high of 108, which broke the record of 106 set in 1936, Healy broke an 86-year old record with 107 degrees, with the old record high at 104. Cimarron set a record of 106, breaking the 104 degrees set in 2011. Ulysses set a record of 106, which broke the record of 104 that was set in 2011 and 1902, and Coldwater tied a record high of 106, which was also set in 1936 and 1918. Dodge City tied a record from 2011 at 106 and Garden City set a new high of 107.
The temperatures recorded have not undergone final quality control by the National Centers for Envoronmental Information. There could be data subject to revision.
