Treated wastewater used for crop irrigation lost due to anaerobic lagoon leak
Dodge City, Kan.–At approximately 10:30 PM Tuesday night, a significant leak was detected under one of the newly constructed anaerobic lagoons at the South Wastewater Treatment Plant. The leak has resulted in the loss of treated Effluent. This type of wastewater has gone through the complete wastewater treatment process and is utilized for crop irrigation.
The City of Dodge City is actively addressing the situation in collaboration with engineers and contractors who are on-site. Additionally, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has been notified of the situation.
