Armed robbery suspect arrested following July 4 pursuit

Garden City, Kan.–A Wichita man was arrested in connection to two armed robberies that recently occurred in Garden City. According to the release from the GCPD, 49-year-old Alberto Rincon was taken into custody following a police pursuit on Independence Day.
 
On May 4, Officers of the Garden City Police Department responded to an armed robbery at 308 W. Fulton Street (Joyeria America), where an unknown man entered the business, held an employee at gunpoint, and stole property before fleeing the scene.
 
On July 1, Officers were dispatched to 1203 E. Fulton Street (Tacos El Tapatio) for an armed robbery and learned that an unknown man held employees and customers at gunpoint before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.
 
Through an investigation, Rincon was identified as the suspect responsible for both robberies.
 
On July 4, Officers conducted a traffic stop on Rincon at the intersection of 8th and Campbell Streets, but Rincon refused to stop, and a police pursuit was initiated. The pursuit traveled east out of the city before ending at Hillcrest Road. Rincon then ran from the vehicle before being apprehended. Officers located a firearm and drugs on Rincon. There were no injuries reported from the pursuit, and the Finney County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Highway Patrol assisted with the incident.
 
Rincon was lodged in the Finney County Jail on numerous charges from the armed robberies and police pursuit including Two counts of Aggravated Robbery, Felony Flee and Elude, Felony of Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer, Felony Aggravated Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Battery, Possession of a Stimulant, Possession of a Hallucinogenic with Intent to Distribute, Felony & Misdemeanor Possession of Paraphernalia, Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Reckless Driving.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
