Multiple U.S. 50 passing lane projects underway in Ford, Edwards Counties
Passing lane projects on multiple sections of U.S. 50 are underway in Ford and Edwards counties. The first section on U.S. 50 starts east of 118th Raod and goes for 1 1/2 miles east to just west of 120 Road, and the second section starts east of 127 Road and goes east to 129 Road for two miles. Both these sections are in Ford County. The third section is in Edwards County and starts .4 mile east of 60th Avenue and extends one mile to the west end of the passing lane.
This project began earlier with drainage structure improvemenst and the work will not directly impact traffic until May. At that time, traffic will concurrently start on one lane throughout the three sections of U.S. 50.
When this traffic change begins in May, motorists should add extra time to their travel schedules and expect delays of up to 15 minutes. One-lane traffic will be directed by flaggers and a pilot car operation through the work zone. U.S. 50 will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.
Venture Corporation of Great Bend is the contractor on these $19.3 million projects, which is expected to be completed by fall, weather permitting.
