Three Broncbusters Named to First JUCO Top 100 Rankings

GARDEN CITY, KS. – Guards Braxton Jones, Brody Robinson, and forward Thomas Tut were all named to the first Rankings Release of the 2024 Junior College Top 100 on Tuesday Morning.

Garden City is the only Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference program to have three individuals named to the list.

“It’s good recognition, and it’s good for our program,” Garden City head coach, Rusty Elmore, said. “I was super happy for those guys when I saw this today.”

Jones led the rankings at No. 15, averaging a Jayhawk Conference-Best 21.3 points per game this season. The Hartford transfer also leads Garden City in three-point percentage (38.0) and free throw percentage (84.9) across 15 appearances this season.

The sophomore was also named Kansas Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week back in November, scoring 26 points in back-to-back games against Frank Phillips College and Colby.

“Braxton brings a lot of energy to practice every single day,” assistant coach, Jack Galazka, said. “He’s the best scorer in the conference, but he makes everybody better.”

Robinson fit in right behind Jones at the No. 20 position. The sophomore point guard leads the NJCAA with 140 assists this season.

The Chattanooga transfer was also named at KJCCC player of the Week, recording back-to-back double-doubles to open up January against Seward County and Coffeyville. Robinson averages 21.1 points in Jayhawk play this season.

“He’s got the heart of a giant, he’s our engine,” assistant coach, Mike Harmon, said on the Garden City Community College Coaches Show. “Brody shows up to work every single day. To me, that’s a skill.”

Tut slid in at No. 75 on the list, 15th amongst forwards. Tut averages 14.7 points per night, whilst adding a team-best 9.3 rebounds per game.

The St. Peter’s (N.J.) transfer has scored in double-figures in 13 games this season, including a current streak of seven straight games in a row dating back to December 2nd. Tut has also recorded seven double-doubles this season.

“The division one coaches I talk to about about Thomas, I tell them he’s very focused on his goals,” assistant coach Jaxon Autry said. “I see it in him wanting to be coached, wanting to find ways to improve his game. He soaks up any kind of information that will help him reach his goals.”
