Holcomb basketball splits with Ulysses

Ulysses, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Holcomb Longhorns and Ulysses Tigers had to wait an extra 24 hours to get their basketball seasons resumed, as they would match up Saturday night in Ulysses. 

In the girls game, the Lady Longhorns would cruise to a 63-29 win. Holcomb would use a big third quarter, using a 21-2 run to open the game up. They were led by Jera Kruleski and Halle Jones, who scored 21 points apiece. Ulysses was led by Cloe Curl with 12 points. The Lady Longhorns improve to 5-2 on the year, as they have won two straight games, while the Lady Tigers fall to 0-8.

The boys game saw Ulysses pick up a win 58-41 over the Longhorns. Holcomb would get a 10, 11, and 13-point performance in the first three quarters, but could not keep up with the Tigers. There were no double figure scorers for Holcomb, as they were led by Kaden Hardy with nine points, and got seven from Brody Deniston and Ayden Brown. The Longhorns have dropped three straight, and are now 4-3 on the year, while Ulysses improved to 4-4.

Holcomb is scheduled to play at Lakin on Tuesday, while Ulysses is scheduled to play at Cimarron.
