Dismal Night for GCCC Basketball Teams at Butler County-Audio
El Dorado, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – Its was a tough road trip to Butler Community College last Saturday night to start the 2nd round of Jayhawk Conference action for the Garden City Community College Basketball teams, as they were both defeated soundly. The Lady Busters ranked No. 11 in the nation didn’t appear to have the energy or focus in their lopsided loss to the Lady Grizzlies 73-46, a team they had beaten back on January 5th at home in triple overtime 86-84. Butler took the early upper hand and never looked back as they built solid leads throughout the game and kept the pressure on. Lady Busters Coach Alaura Sharp comments on her teams poor performance and where they go from here.

For the Buster men it continues to be struggle to get started on the right foot and stay on the right track, as they fell behind early to the Butler Grizzlies and never recovered in a 69-55 loss, their 5th straight Jayhawk Conference loss. Turnovers again the key committing 17 for the game most of them unforced and then couple that with the lack of rebounding and scoring droughts, produces the formula for a Conference loss on the road. Garden City men’s Coach Rand Chappell talks about his teams performance, but still has an appreciation for their effort despite dropping to 10-13 on the season.
