Holcomb boys take Goodland Cross Country Invite title, Scott City teams finish second

Goodland, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The season debut for the 2023 cross country season found several schools in Goodland on Thursday for the annual Goodland Invitational cross country meet, held at Sugar Hills Golf Course, just west of Goodland.

The Holcomb boys and Norton girls would take the team titles, while Scott City would finish second as a team in both races.

On the boys side, Holcomb scored 27 points, and were led by Brody Deniston, who was the meet champion. Scott City was in second with 58 points, and their highest finisher was Ivan Armendariz with his seventh place finish. Lakin was third, as Austin Ritsema was second overall.

For the girls, Norton was the meet winner, while Scott City was second. They were led by Belle Trout, who placed fourth. Holcomb was third, as Jenera Ardery placed third overall.
