Man arrested for violating offender registration act
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Scott City man was arrested on Tuesday after an investigation into an interaction earlier in August.
On August 5 at around 1:00 p.m. the Scott City Police Department responded to a suspicious activity call in the Ace Hardware parking lot. The reporting party had informed officers an individual had spoken to juveniles in the parking lot, and they were very concerned about this interaction.
After a thorough investigation, the case was sent to the Scott County Attorney for prosecution. An arrest warrant was issued and on Tuesday, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office executed the arrest warrant at an address in Scott County.
Officers arrested 44-year-old Dale Eugene Betzold of Scott City, for 6 counts of Aggravated Violation of the Kansas Offender Registration Act, and 4 counts of Violation of the Kansas Offender Registration Act.
Betzold was transported to the Scott County Jail and has a bond of $25,000. The Scott County Attorney will be prosecuting the case.
