Lady Beaver volleyball looking for bounceback season

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The 2022 Scott City volleyball team had a difficult season, primarily due to injuries throughout the season, and a team that had to insert in sophomores and freshman. This year, the slate is clean, and the Lady Beavers feel optimistic with what they’ve seen so far, leading up to a big weekend, with seven matches on Friday and Saturday.

Over 20 players make up this year’s squad. Scott City will be fairly young, with just two seniors in Dayanara Castillo and Erika Felker, but a good group of juniors and sophomores that had significant playing time last season on the varsity.

With their first-ever volleyball jamboree in the rear view mirror, the focus turns ahead to a season that could see the Lady Beavers surprise some teams. There will be several home matches this year, including the GWAC Tournament in October. They begin their season on Friday in Oakley for a triangular, and will head to the tough Maroon & Gold Invitational on Saturday.
