Three-vehicle accident sends two to hospital
Ford County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–An accident involving three vehicles took place Tuesday afternoon around 5:20, about 1.2 miles west of Dodge City on US Highway 50 in Ford County.
According to the report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 43-year-old Charles Arnold Thomas of Dodge City was eastbound on US Highway 50, when he was attempting to make a left turn, and was stopped waiting for traffic, when an eastbound 2006 Honda Ridgeline driven by 40-year-old Eric Leon Baird of Lawrence did not see Thomas in front of him stopped, and swerved left of center to avoid a collision. Baird sideswiped Thomas, and struck a westbound 2016 Chevy Malibu head on driven by 40-year-old Elaine Hernandez of Cimarron.
Baird was taken to St. Catherine Hospital in Dodge City for a suspected minor injury. He was wearing a seatbelt. Passenger in his vehicle, 39-year-old Rashay Hurt of Lawrence was uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt.
Hernandez was taken to St. Catherine Hospital for suspected serious injuries, and was not wearing a seatbelt according to the KHP report.
Thomas was uninjured in the accident and was wearing a seatbelt.
