The shots started to fall for the Lady Buffs throughout the game as their offense is predicated on a high quantity of shots. They saw their persistence pay off against the #9 ranked 5A team in Oklahoma with a win that snapped their 7-game losing streak dating back to Jan. 6th against Great Bend.
It wasn’t without a few scores and a slow start, after trailing after one quarter by 10 Garden City would come alive over the final 3 quarters, and Amaya Gallegos would get the scoring rolling early as she picked up 11 1st half points as she would finish with 13 total. The real story came from KJ Pinchon who popped off for 19 points a new career high. She has now set her new career high in consecutive games.
“We made shots that was the difference tonight, it felt good to have smiles out there and see this team continue to grow in winning situations,” said coach Jacob Miller after the game.
The Buffaloes won their 5th game improving 2 games above their 3-win mark from last season. With still four games left and another trip around the WAC Garden City has a chance to continue their momentum against Great Bend on February 10th.

It was ugly early, with an uber-aggressive Guymon 2-3 zone and a lot of bumping and shoving but Garden City weathered the storm and took control to snag their 15th win of the year in the neighboring state of Oklahoma.
After an early 17-7 lead after the first quarter Garden City worked through a tough 2nd quarter to bring a nine-point lead into the break. Seven Buffaloes had recorded a basket in the first half and the balanced effort continued into the 2nd half. The Buffs went on a 9-0 run to open up a 37-19 lead in the first two minutes of the third quarter. That would all but put away the Tigers as Garden City just rode out the pesky zone to a 57-42 victory.
Garden City finished with eight total players recording a basket and three in double figures led by Jace Steinmetz who had 11, Jake Underwood with 10 as well as Caleb Wiese with 10.
“Our focus tonight was fantastic, we knew how Guymon was going to play us, and when things didn’t go our way we adjusted the best we could to come out with a win,” said coach Jeff Williamson after the Buff’s 15th win.
