The losing streak was extended to 6 games on Saturday as the Broncbusters were closer than ever to breaking out of the skid. They even led by 1 heading into the final quarter but were driven down by turnovers and empty trips in key moments over the final period.

The Broncbusters were led by Taya Davis who had 19 points and 7 assists, she was right on par for the league lead in assists per game at 7.4 but the ball movement lacked down the stretch. Dayshawna Carter also had 18 points but that was the only other Buster in double figures.

“We just weren’t tough enough in key moments down the stretch, I was happier with the overall effort but the key moments are what hurt us today,” Said coach Antwain Scales after the loss.

Garden City drops to (7-14) and (3-12) in conference play. They have a matchup at home vs. Colby on a Wednesday a team they beat for one of their three conference wins.

Garden City took care of business on the road vs. a feisty Independence squad on Saturday. After dominating the first matchup Garden City followed up with a similar performance thanks to David Elliot’s first career double after he had 20 points and 11 assists.

“David was huge for us ever since we’ve run him at the one (point guard) we’ve seen our turnovers go down,” said associate head coach Bobby Naubert after the win.

Not only did David Elliot have a nice game, Logan Feltman who play played his most minutes in conference play had 8 points 6 of which came off of a pair of nifty three-point makes.

“How about Logan Feltman today?” Said Naubert after Feltman scored 8 points in front of his mom and dad who made the drive from Winfield, Alabama to see their son play.

With the win, the Broncbusters move to (14-6) and (9-6) in Jayhawk play. Garden City now sits in fourth place which is a prime spot to host a quarterfinal game in region playoffs.
